1. Ordinary Passport ( Series A,B,C)

Ordinary Kenyan ePassports are issued to Kenyan citizens for international travel. They are issued by the Department of Immigration Services under the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government.

The Kenyan ePassport is a valid travel document that allows its holder to move freely between countries and regions as long as they have a valid visa or entry permit. It also serves as proof of citizenship in Kenya. 

Validity : It is valid for a period that does not exceed ten years from the date of issue, and in the case of children for a period not exceeding five years.

Types and number of pages : Ordinary Kenyan ePassports also come with different number of pages.

  • A Series (34 Pages): Ksh. 4,550
  • B Series (50 pages): Ksh. 6,050
  • C Series (66 pages): Ksh. 7,550

2. Diplomatic Passport

Diplomatic Kenyan passports are issued to Kenyan diplomats, senior government officials and other authorized representatives who are traveling abroad for official duties.

  • The Validity of Diplomatic Passport : For a period not exceeding ten years from the date of issue, and in the case of children, for a period not exceeding five years. The passport is also regarded valid for duration of the holder’s official duties.
  • Eligibility Confirmation : The eligibility of these passports is confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Type and number of pages : The number of pages is 48 in a diplomatic passport.

  • Justices of Court of Appeal and spouse(s)
  • Attorney General and spouse(s)
  • Director of Public Prosecutions and spouse(s)
  • Solicitor General and spouse(s)
  • Controller of Budget and spouse(s)
  • Auditor General and spouse(s)
  • Governor of the Central Bank and spouse(s)
  • Clerk of the National Assembly and spouse(s)

3. East African Passport

The Kenyan East African Passport is a passport issued by the government of Kenya to its citizens. It is valid for travel to all countries in the East African Community (EAC) and provides visa-free access to over 40 countries across Africa and Europe. The passport allows holders to enjoy the freedom of movement within the EAC region, as well as other benefits such as duty-free shopping, reduced hotel rates, and visa-free access for business trips. The Kenyan East African Passport has become an important tool for Kenyans to travel with ease and convenience within the EAC region.

4. Temporary Passport

The Kenyan Temporary Passport is a travel document issued by the Kenyan government for citizens who for special circumstances cannot travel on an ordinary passport to a foreign country.

The validity of a temporary passport : 

  • It is valid for a period of one year and can be used for both business and leisure trips. 
  • A temporary passport can be used in all countries worldwide, except for those explicitly stated in the passport where it is deemed invalid.

With this document, citizens can travel to any country that accepts it as valid identification.
