Extension of Visitor's Pass

The extension of a visitor's pass registration is governed by the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act of 2011, specifically part VII (56) 2 of the laws of Kenya.

This pass is issued to a foreigner who already has a visitor's pass and wishes to extend their stay in Kenya.

Extending a visitor's pass in Kenya is typically done under specific circumstances and conditions.

Reasons for extending a visitor’s pass to Kenya may include:

• Travel ban due to the pandemic.
• Waiting for the issuance of a permit/pass.
• Wrapping up work, projects, or a business.
• Medical treatment.
• Family matters.
• Extended holiday.
• Legal matters.
• Facilitation by IOM for relocation.
• Seeking authorization to depart.
• Voluntary relocation by the embassy.
• Other reasons deemed valid by the immigration officer for extending the pass.

It is important to understand when and why you may need to extend a visitor's pass to comply with immigration regulations.

The online application can be completed on the Kenya Electronic Foreign Nationals Services (eFNS) portal. 

1. Log in or create an account at the eFNS portal.
2. Select the ‘Extension of Visitors Pass’ service.
3. Fill in the online application form.
4. Upload the required documents, such as a copy of your passport bio-data page, previous visa endorsement, passport photo, and proof of pending application (if applicable).
5. Submit the application online.
6. Download and print the filled application form.

You will need to scan and upload the following documents:

1. Passport Photograph : Upload a passport photograph.
2. Previous Visitor's Pass Endorsement : The original and a copy of the previous visitor's pass endorsement.
3. Passport Bio Data Page : Your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Kenya.
4. Visa Endorsement on Passport : An immigration authorised entry stamp

At the end of the application, you will have the option to print out the Form 22 for the extension of your Visitor's pass.

You must first fill out the form online, book an appointment and submit your completed application at the Immigration Counter on the 17th Floor of Nyayo House in Nairobi or your nearest immigration office.

Please note that incomplete applications will not be accepted, and providing false information is a legal offense.

Visitor's Pass Extension is granted for free for a duration of 2 or 3 months at the discretion of the immigration officer.
